    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[A large, glass-front display case with various sized boxes, pamphlets and rows of tools used in the practice of dentistry dominates this image. Another case filled with bottles is also visible. A woman, seated, is partially visible behind an adjoining counter. On the counter are a telephone and two stacks  of documents. Also behind the counter is a filing cabinet on top of which sits a small fan. A spittoon is visible on the floor next tothis counter.  A sign on the case with the dental tools advertises “Duplex a composite of pure gold and tin, Superior to gold as a base for fillings.”  On a wall next to a large glass window may be seen a poster for “Service Selling Talks.” Additional text on the poster indicates that this is a series appearing in the Dental Digest and refers in particular to “Brother Bill’s Letter.” Below this poster is a sign for “Steele’s Interchangeable Tooth,” and below that is a 1912 calendar advertising the E. D. Beeman Land Company of Dubuque, Iowa. Lettering on the large glass window reads “Marshall, O’Brien, Worthen Co.” The view out the window indicates that this office is on an upper floor.     <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Two men are standing in front of a display of canned goods and coffee packaged in bags, sacks and cans. One man is holding a package of coffee as if he is demonstrating the quality of the product to the other gentleman. A wire rack with six bins is in the lower left of the image. Two bins contain cookies or crackers from the Liten &amp; Sons Snow White Bakery, Clinton, Iowa, three bins contains cookies or crackers from the Crescent Macaroni  &amp; Cracker Company in Davenport, Iowa, and the last bin contains cookies from the National Biscuit Company. Hanging from the ceiling are three signs for “Pearline Concentrated Dry Soap,” “Pearline for Delicate Women, Dainty Fabrics” and “Pearline Best by Test, Practically, Chemically the Modern Soap.” Hanging next to the soap advertisements are two signs for the “Rumford Complete Cookbook” and “Rumford Baking Powder.”  On the wall behind the men are signs for  “Friedman’s High Grade Butterine – the Only Rich Butter Flavor,” ” Old Dutch Cleanser,”  “S&amp;H Green Trading Stamps,” and “Old Dutch Soap.” Behind the clerk are displays of Montague’s Biscuits and Borden’s Evaporated Milk. Behind the customer is a display with a baby, seated on a display of cans, holding a bottle with white liquid in one hand, and a can of canned milk in the other.     <dcterms:description><![CDATA[The office appears to be quite small. Pressed tin covers the upper walls and ceiling. The lower walls are of wainscoting. A buzzer is visible on the back wall. An electric light hangs down on a cord from the ceiling. Two office workers are visible. A woman is standing and looking at a drawer of files housed in a large, floor-to-ceiling wooden cabinet. She is wearing a long, striped dress with an empire waist, three-quarter-length sleeves, a large collar, bracelet and matching necklace. A man, dressed in a dark suit and tie, is seated at a roll-top desk. He is typing on a typewriter.  A Miss Remington calendar advertising a “visible writing” device is visible on the wall over the desk, as is another calendar indicating that the image was taken on June 10, 1912.     <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Dr. Martha A.  McCullough, MD, is seated at a large roll-top desk reading a large book. A telephone, books and papers are visible on the desk. Medical supplies and filled glass bottles are stored in a glass-enclosed shelving unit. A small table with a medical instrument is visible, as is her medical diploma hung on a wall opposite her desk. Her name may be seen inscribed on her office window.  The view from her window seems to indicate that her office was on an upper floor of the Bank and Insurance Building in downtown Dubuque.     <dcterms:description><![CDATA[A woman, perhaps in her twenties, is standing between two counters in a soda fountain store. Her reflection may be seen in the mirror behind the back counter. She is dressed in a long sleeved, dark dress with a large white collar, white cuffs and a white apron. Her hair is pulled back into a bun. Various glass dishes, cutlery and glasses may be seen on the white marble counter below the mirror. A Tiffany-style lamp on top of a large marble container with a tap dispensing handle and jars of liquid (syrup?) are on the front counter. Various signs and advertisements are posted on the walls, including “Ice Cold Soft Drinks,” “Soda Water,” “Drink Dr. Pepper” and “Elk Sealed Ribbon Chocolates.” There is a glass display counter with various confectionery items next to the front counter. Other shelves behind the front counter contain large jars, boxes of hard candy and silver tankards. A small clock reads 9:30. The room itself is ornate - a proscenium arch with a music lyre is over the rear counter and dark wallpaper with a flower motif and wall-mounted, flower-shaped light fixtures are visible.
