    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Celebrating the 300th anniversary of Shakespeare&#039;s death, two dozen young women holding long streamers which have been attached to the top of a tall pole are seen marching in a parade. Small American flags have been attached to the top of the May Pole. The bottom of the pole is resting in a small cart which is pushed by two young men. The women are dressed in identical white dresses, white stockings, dark shoes, dark vests, and white caps with dark ribbons. A horse drawn wagon with several occupants is visible behind the May Pole dancers. Parked along the street behind the dancers is an open car with one passenger.     <dcterms:description><![CDATA[This frame, story and a half home has been built on a slightly sloping lot. The wood siding is dark, with white eves and window trim. The front porch covers the entire front of the home. Several steps lead up to the porch. Vertical, white, Craftsman-style columns extend to the porch roof. The home features double hung windows. Near one end of the porch, a narrow brick chimney may be seen running vertically along a side wall and through the roof of the home. A dormer is visible over the porch. The only visible landscaping is one small tree that has been planted close to the front porch.     <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Modest in size, this one story home sits on a small corner lot. The home has a stucco exterior and tile roof. Narrow windows have been installed in shallow, recessed, arched openings. Wooden shutters have been added on either side of the openings. Curtains are visible in the windows. A shallow overhang with a tile roof may be seen over the arched, wooden front door which opens onto a small stoop. A brick, double chimney protrudes from the roof, and a detached garage is partially visible behind the home.  A fire hydrant may be seen between a sidewalk and curb running along the side yard of the home.     <dcterms:description><![CDATA[This image shows the front and south side of a stone, two story home designed in the English cottage style. Dark, stained shingles resemble a thatched roof. A large covered entry way frames the double doors on the south side of the structure. A smaller arched entry is visible around the front door. Awnings cover most windows, and a wide chimney on the front side of the home extends above the roof. A pergola is visible in the rear yard. Sidewalks extend away from the front door, and also from the side door to the street.  According to the Encyclopedia Dubuque, the architectural design was copied from an original photograph taken at Wolver Hampton, England. Nine different types of stone were used in the structure. The home was renovated in 2009, and a commemorative plaque was installed in front of the residence. It reads in part: “Model electric home erected in 1924 by John G. Kuehnle to demonstrate the possibilities of modern scientific planning and building methods.” Mr. Kuehnle was the owner of the Dubuque Electric Company.     <dcterms:description><![CDATA[This image shows a newly constructed model home on Kirkwood Avenue. These &quot;model homes&quot; were constructed using all local materials and featured some of the first modern electrical systems in private residences. The residence is a story and a half in height, with a square, two story tower and a dormer behind the front porch. A wrought iron balcony may be seen below the second story tower window. The roof line is heavily sculpted. A covered porch extends along the front of the home, and a sun room, also displaying a sculped roof line, extends from the west side of the residence. A curved sidewalk extends from the street to the front porch. The front and side yards have been carefully landscaped with low shrubbery. A large tree is visible behind the home. In 2016, this home was owned by Loras College and used as a guest house. The number 1264 is written on a label that has been stuck to the lower left corner of the slide. ]]></dcterms:description>

Peters Commons (see LO 097) is in the background. Dubuque College is now known as the University of Dubuque. According to information located in the University of Dubuque Archives, the 13 Club was started by thirteen students in 1915 as a Christian fraternity. Their mission was to promote Christian fellowship and brotherhood. Originally the organization was called the “A.D.P.” The name was later changed to the “13 Club,” and is currently known as the “Thirteeners.” ]]></dcterms:description>
