Both houses are facing Locust, and the photograph was taken from across the Street, on 17th Street. The street is a brick laid road. The house on the left of the photograph is a three story house made up brick. In the middle, on the third story. Is a small group of windows. From the sidewalk, is a small group of stairs to get up on the front porch. There are two doors of the front porch, which makes it appear to be an apartment building. There are two separate porches on the second floor and they are painted in a lighter color, possibly white. To the right of this house is a three-story house with a group of windows on the third story. It is also made of brick and has a small set of stairs from the sidewalk to the front porch, which is a much smaller front porch. There are vines growing up the front of this house and two trees in front of the house. There are two chimneys, one on the left and one on the right, and the chimney on the right side of the house has smoke coming out. Two the right of this house is a street light and a much smaller house behind the street light.
