There are two trees along the sidewalk of the street that sit in front of the house. The house has a set of stairs that lead from the sidewalk to the front door of the house. The front of the house has 4 Corinthian columns along the front that lead to the second floor. There is a small arched window in the pediment of the house above the second story. There is a tower with a sharp cone shaped roof to the left of the center and another tower to the right, with a round cone shaped roof. To the left of the sharp cone tower is a chimney and another part of the house with Corinthian columns in the corners of a possible screened in porch. There are additional trees on the side of the photograph and there are leaves covering the ground. A sidewalk sits below and in the foreground while square texture tiles sit above the window. The two windows feature a curtain that runs along the top of the window and on either side of the windows. The curtains on the edges of the windows are held back by a rope. The left window has a female mannequin sitting down in a wicker chair. She is wearing a wide brimmed hat with flowers on it, a dark beaded necklace and lighter colored clothing and heels. She is holding a fabric with flowers and a piece of linoleum and to her right is a sign that says, "For Every Room in the House: Armstrong's Linoleum". The storefront is a large window separated into 3 panes. Above the window is square tile design that makes up the face of the building. Within the tile is the word Kleih. Also above the window is a small fabric awning that says, "Hardware & Stoves." To the left of the window, the sidewalk goes back to a door. The left pane window features an oven with a sign, "Black with Nickle Trim: 20 Oven & Reservoir: Special $90.00." Kleih Sons Hardware Store. There is a globe in the right pane window which says, "The Favorite Store of Dubuque: G.F. Kleih Sons." The storefront is separated into three panes. The tight pane has Mobileoil lubricant stacked up into a pyramid. The middle window pane has the same cans of lubricant with a large sign that reads, "Mobioleoils: a grade for each type of motor" and some words are cut off. Below this is a sign that reads, "junk" with mechanical parts siting out. The left pane window has the same lubricant stacked and to the left of these is leather razor strops from the Irwin Leader Goode Company.
